Description: Most promising of the Human Resiliency habitats; Consists of of of enclosed domes on the Earth’s surface, each capable of hosting clusters of five hundred to a thousand people (Phase II). The United States version of the program is expanding into the hinterlands and other inhabitable areas (Phase III).

Characteristics: Has a naturally bubbly, positive disposition but struggles with the academic rigor of her education and job. High-strung and sensitive to her environment. Utterly, passionately loyal to those she loves. Believes the best in people until proven wrong. Very unsure of her own capabilities and easily discouraged; tends to compare herself unfairly to others instead of finding and focusing on her own talents. Has artistic interests likes to grow things and watch things grow.

Characteristics: Deputy Director of the Human Resiliency Program (HRP), Head of the Capsule Project / Program. Brilliant, politically savvy, charismatic, good team-builder (or so he thinks). Strongly values loyalty and talent as he defines it. Has a soft spot for Sam because of his prior relationship with Sam’s mother (Miranda Richardson) and feels protective of him. Weakness – he thinks he is smarter than everyone else and, while this is sometimes true, when combined with demand for loyalty, creates a huge blind spot where people close to him are concerned. Perceptive but blind where his own family is concerned.

Hair: Short, spiky, dark brown

Eyes: Hazelish-green (look like pond scum when he’s tired, clear and expressive when rested).

Complexion: Olive (mixed heritage)

Build: Thin and wiry – the appearance of being underweight

Other Features: Has assymetrical / Lopsided features (like many of the genetically enhanced or modified through the Human Engineering Program. Shape of mouth warped into a permanent smirk (a trait he inherited from his mother). Has nearly perpetual dark circles under his eyes from exhaustion (among other causes).

Characteristics: Driven, Determined, and Deeply Intellectual. Constantly questioning things around him and himself. Socially awkward with a very dry sense of humor. Not always confident in his considerable abilities. Physically clumsy and awkward (unathletic). Not the type to give up. Tries to overcome obstacles or difficulties by intellectualizing them. Struggles with feelings and close personal relationships – may even be on the spectrum. Is considered leadership material because of his clarity of thought combined with an innate sense of justice and decisiveness.

Complexion: Skin that would normally be olive-toned is sallow

Characteristics: Born of scandal. Gave up something she really wanted to do (working at a hospital) to protect and provide for Sam. Loves her son but isn’t always great at showing it. Secretive and watchful / observant. Brilliant; cares about the future of humankind.

Hair: Golden-brown, curly

Eyes: Aquamarine Blue

Complexion: Hispanic – golden

Build: Athletic and muscular; unusually symmetrical features. Considered handsome.

Characteristics: A fellow member of the Capsule program – went through the final leg of Accessions testing with Sam, even though he is a year younger. Is a natural leader and draws people to him like a magnet, including Sam. Warm with a sense of humor. Becomes head of Physical Endurance at Phoenix early. One of those rare creatures who can function well on minimal sleep. Also a pilot.

Hair: Close-cropped silver-gray hair

Eyes: Gray, stony, with only the barest hint of blue

Complexion: Caucasian

Build: Tall, Wiry, Muscular

Characteristics: Head of the Capsule Program Security Forces. Younger twin brother of Stephan Gage. Intensely loyal to his family (brother, niece principally). Can count the number of people on one hand that he trusts. Like his brother, he is brilliant; however, he is cold, calculating, and laser focused on what he sees as his mission in life (e.g. to prop up his brother’s plans). Demanding, but fair; not afraid to make tough decisions. Does not value human life beyond those who have demonstrated uncompromising loyalty to him or his brother. His weakness is overconfidence and ability to read people; he has a stellar people-meter, but isn’t always right, and this meter is clouded by his deeply suspicious nature.
